“Breaking Bias, Building Balance” – Benilde Concludes Women’s Month 2026 Through Advocacy, Leadership, and Safe Spaces Initiatives

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde concluded its observance of Women’s Month 2026 through a month-long series of activities promoting gender equality, safe spaces, inclusive leadership, and community engagement under the theme “Breaking Bias, Building Balance.”

Led by the Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life (OVPLMSL) in partnership with the Center for Restorative Discipline (CRD), Center for Social Action (CSA), People and Organization Development Office (PODO), Center for Emergency Management, Safety and Security (CEMSS), Center for Learning Resources (CLR), and School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) and other participating centers and schools, the celebration featured webinars, self-defense training, leadership workshops, restorative circles, book talks, advocacy fairs, and learning sessions for students, associates, and community partners. Key initiatives included the “Draw the Line 2.0” exhibit mounted by OVPLMSL, CRD, and CSA; the “AdbokaSerye” webinar on violence against women and children featuring institutional GAD Focal Person Ms. Nicole Trisha F. Panganiban as resource speaker; the “GAD to Be Safe” self-defense training organized by PODO and CEMSS; and “Gender-Responsive Leadership,” facilitated by Ms. Panganiban together with CRD Director Ms. Norie Ador Dionisio and CRD Discipline Officers. The celebration also highlighted “Her Story: Deaf Women’s Journey” by SDEAS and the Deaf theatre group Silent Steps, “EmpowerHER Circles” facilitated by Director Ador Dionisio and Ms. Vanessa Napoles, and the CLR BookTalk featuring Ms. Irish Joy G. Deocampo, all of which reinforced conversations on women’s empowerment, restorative leadership, inclusion, and shared accountability. Through these collective efforts, Benilde strengthened its commitment to embedding Gender and Development (GAD) principles into everyday campus life, fostering a community grounded in dignity, respect, empowerment, and safe spaces for all.
