The Spanish Language and Culture Learning Visit (SLCLV) is an international educational trip developed by the School of Diplomacy and Governance (SDG) alongside Universidad de Alcalá Henares for students of Consular and Diplomatic Affairs (CDA) and Diplomacy and International Affairs (DIA) who are enrolled in Spanish as their Foreign Language of choice.
In 2-18 September 2023, 16 students, accompanied by Atty. Shyanne Juan-Monera (Faculty; DIA Program) visited our partner university to learn about life in Spain through language and communication classes, sports, dance, and a tour of well-preserved historically significant sites in Alcalá Henares, Toledo, and Segovia.
International Education Trips (IETs) such as the SLCLV have been designed to not only reinforce the foreign language competency and intercultural communication skills of students. It is also an avenue for them to prepare as future practitioners in industries that put a premium on demonstrating cultural sensitivity, versatility, and a global world view.
