SHS Work Immersion Outputs – Showcasing Learning through IS and Cybersecurity Seminars

On July 9 and 11, 2024, the Benilde Senior High School (SHS) students who completed their Work Immersion Program under the Information Systems (IS) and Cybersecurity (CSEC) programs of the School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) successfully culminated their experience through two student-led seminars. The seminars served as the final outputs of their immersion, reflecting the skills and insights they developed during their time with the programs.

Under the mentorship of Mr. Jacob Catayoc, Chairperson for Information Systems and Program Coordinator for Cybersecurity, the SHS students organized and conducted the following sessions: “Python Workshop for SHS Students” held on July 9, 2024, and “Personal Cybersecurity Tips and Best Practices” conducted on July 11, 2024. These seminars were designed to engage their fellow SHS students, providing them with foundational knowledge in programming and practical strategies for online safety.

The culmination activities not only showcased the SHS students’ learning outcomes but also fostered peer-to-peer education, where young learners inspired one another to pursue fields in information systems and cybersecurity. The initiative demonstrated the value of immersive, experience-based learning and reflected Benilde’s commitment to preparing future-ready students who are both knowledgeable and socially responsible.
