Seminar on Building Healthy Digital Habits – Promoting Mindful Technology Use in the Community

On July 6, 2024, a group of Information Systems students from the School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) conducted a community engagement seminar titled “Building Healthy Digital Habits.” The session was organized as part of their Community Service Program and held in partnership with the Minstrels Rhythm of Hope community.

The seminar featured Mr. Jacob Catayoc, Chairperson of the Information Systems Program and Program Coordinator for Cybersecurity, as the resource speaker. In his talk, he discussed the importance of cultivating responsible and mindful digital practices, emphasizing how individuals can manage screen time, protect their online well-being, and maintain balance in an increasingly connected world. Participants were introduced to practical strategies for developing sustainable digital habits that improve productivity, mental health, and overall quality of life.

The initiative highlighted Benilde’s commitment to social responsibility and digital citizenship, empowering communities to use technology in healthy, purposeful, and ethical ways. By bridging classroom learning with community service, the project exemplified how Benildean students apply their academic knowledge to create a positive impact beyond campus.
