The Benilde Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) Program, in collaboration with Manila Embroidery Gold Inc., hosted an insightful talk titled “The Next Niche” on September 29, 2023, at the 14th Floor Architecture Hall, Design and Arts Campus.
The session featured Mr. Gabriel Asuncion, representing Manila Embroidery Gold Inc., a leader in the design and manufacturing of high-quality medical scrubs. His presentation delved into the creation of innovative, high-performance fabrics that prioritize durability, comfort, and hygiene—key elements in modern medical apparel.
Participants were given a behind-the-scenes look at the entire process, from concept and design to production and marketing. The discussion also encouraged students from FDCREA1 to explore how specialized performance fabrics can be applied beyond healthcare, expanding their understanding of fashion technology and material innovation.
The event gathered Benilde students and faculty for a thought-provoking exchange on how function and creativity intersect in the evolving landscape of fashion design.
