On 18 December 2023, Ms. Bianca Diaz, the Secretary-General of the 25th Benilde Model United Nations was formally invited to participate in the Diplomatic League Global Summit 2023 (DLGS 2023), which was held at the Foreign Service Institute Conference Room of the DFA Main Headquarters.
The event aims to empower young professionals to become practitioners of diplomacy and global affairs and to advance Philippine Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, global peace, and humanitarian agendas.
DLGS 2023 kicked off with an overview of the Philippine Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, which provided a glimpse of the foundation of the former’s relations with its fellow States. Following the theme “DLGS 2023: Promoting Youth Diplomacy with DFA OUCSCA”, distinguished speakers from the DFA shared their expertise and experiences with the delegates, spearheaded by Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs, Hon. Jesus Gary Domingo.
“The summit was a good refresher of the basics of diplomacy; it provides a unique approach on its essence beyond those that are tackled in the classroom,” Secretary-General Diaz said.
Another highlight of the event was the open forum, where delegates were given the opportunity to share their insights and ask questions that overall supplemented the session.
SecGen Diaz: “It was a great experience to meet student-leaders from various schools who share the same passion in international affairs as I do, which allowed me to network and connect with them.”
As the end of the summit drew near, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Consular Affairs Arman R. Talbo, also explored the career and opportunities in the Office of Consular Affairs.
