De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Office of the Vice President for the Lasallian Mission, proudly opened the 2nd Refugee Film Festival on June 20, 2024, at the ARG Theater. The festival runs until June 22, featuring a compelling lineup of films that bring to light the diverse and deeply human stories of refugees from around the world.
The three-day festival coincides with World Refugee Day, serving as a powerful platform to raise awareness, foster empathy, and inspire action for displaced individuals and communities. Six films were carefully curated to showcase the courage, resilience, and hope of refugees as they navigate the challenges of conflict, migration, and rebuilding their lives.
Open to both the public and the Benildean community, the event reflects Benilde’s enduring commitment to social awareness, inclusion, and global citizenship—values at the heart of the Lasallian mission. By hosting the Refugee Film Festival, Benilde not only amplifies the voices of refugees but also provides a space for meaningful dialogue and reflection on issues of human rights, compassion, and shared responsibility.
Through this collaboration with UNHCR, Benilde continues to use education and the arts as transformative tools—bridging understanding across borders and empowering communities to stand in solidarity with the world’s displaced populations.
