On September 30, 2023, faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development (BS-GDD) program of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde represented the College at the Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) closing ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall. The event celebrated the vibrant and rapidly expanding creative sectors in the Philippines, recognizing their contributions to innovation, cultural identity, and economic growth.

Representing Benilde were Mr. Norman Lee, Special Assistant to the Chancellor and Chairperson of the CHED Technical Panel for Game Development and Animation, Mr. Lamberto “Abet” Ongkingco, and Mr. Craig Lines, all members of the Game Design and Development faculty. The three served as speakers during a side event at the PCIM closing day, engaging with attendees and sharing insights on game design, education, and industry collaboration. Their talks emphasized how academic institutions like Benilde play a vital role in nurturing talent, driving creative innovation, and bridging the gap between education and industry practice.

The Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM), organized under Republic Act 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act, serves as a national platform that brings together government agencies, educational institutions, and private sector leaders to advance the creative economy. It highlights various creative domains—including game development, animation, design, film, and digital media—as key growth areas in the country’s innovation landscape.
Benilde’s participation in PCIM underscores its active engagement in nation-building through the creative industries. By fostering partnerships, promoting innovation in education, and supporting events that empower Filipino creatives, Benilde continues to help shape a future where the Philippines stands as a leading force in the global creative economy.
