[2023-2024] Benilde and St. Mary’s University, Twickenham London Explore Short Course Mobility Program

De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) continues to strengthen its international academic partnerships with top global institutions as it met with representatives from St. Mary’s University, Twickenham London on August 1, 2024. The meeting, attended by Joey Oliva and St. Mary’s officials, along with Sherlo Reyes (CEL Director), Cora Reyes (SMIT Dean), Ricardo Cruz, Jr. (Assistant Dean), and Paula Roxas (Linkages Specialist), centered on potential collaborative learning opportunities for Benilde students in the United Kingdom.

The discussion focused on introducing short course mobility programs designed to give Benildeans a global learning experience. St. Mary’s presented its Summer School Program, a 7-week credit-bearing course focused on the arts. However, recognizing the distinct structure of Benilde’s academic calendar, both institutions agreed to co-develop a bespoke 2-week non-credit program tailored specifically for Benilde students.

The proposed short course will highlight business and management within the arts, as well as creative arts, providing a unique interdisciplinary perspective for students interested in global creative and entrepreneurial fields.

As part of the next steps, Benilde will share its relevant course syllabi, while St. Mary’s will present details on the six modules under its Summer School program to ensure academic alignment. Both institutions plan to reconvene in the first week of September to finalize the framework of the partnership.

This collaboration marks another milestone in Benilde’s internationalization journey—creating opportunities for students to immerse in diverse cultural and academic environments, and preparing them to become globally competent professionals in the creative and business industries.
