On April 12, 2024, De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde participated in the First Consultative Forum with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) Offering Game Development and Animation Programs, organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and held at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City. The event brought together representatives from various HEIs to share insights, feedback, and experiences on the implementation and development of Game Development and Animation programs across the country.

Representing Benilde were Ms. Veronica Gamboa, Chairperson of the School of Management and Information Technology – Analytics, Computing, and IT (SMIT-ACI) Game Design and Development Program, and Mr. Patrick Astilla, Chairperson of the School of New Media Arts (SNMA) Animation Program. From the Technical Panel for Game Development and Animation (TPGDA), Mr. Norman Lee, Benilde’s Special Assistant to the Chancellor and Chairperson of the TPGDA, together with Mr. Daniel Enriquez, Benilde’s Animation faculty and TPGDA member, also participated in leading the discussions.

The forum served as a platform for CHED and the TPGDA to gather direct feedback from academic institutions on the current state of Game Development and Animation education, particularly in terms of curriculum design, implementation challenges, and areas for improvement. The inputs gathered will serve as a foundation for updating and refining the baseline curriculum, ensuring alignment with both pedagogical standards and the evolving needs of the creative technology sector.

This event focused specifically on academic perspectives, while a subsequent forum will engage industry stakeholders to complement the educational insights with workforce and market-driven input. Benilde’s active participation in this process reflects its leadership in shaping the national direction of Game Development and Animation education—bridging academic rigor, creative innovation, and industry relevance.
