On August 20, 2024, Dr. Joselito Eduard Goh, Research Coordinator for the School of Management and Information Technology – Analytics, Computing, and IT (SMIT-ACI) Cluster and faculty member of the Information Systems Program, presented his Teaching Overview for the Benilde Open Online Course (BOOC) titled “Programming Foundations: Your Launchpad to Coding.” The course is designed to provide learners with a strong introduction to programming principles, logic formulation, and problem-solving through code — serving as an accessible entry point for students and professionals aspiring to develop digital and computational literacy.
The initiative was guided by Dr. Catherine Mojado, Associate Dean for the SMIT-ACI Cluster, and Mr. Jacob Catayoc, Chairperson of the Information Systems Program, who served as mentors in ensuring that the course design aligned with Benilde’s standards for academic innovation, learner engagement, and digital accessibility.
The Benilde Open Online Course (BOOC) initiative reflects the College’s commitment to open, inclusive, and flexible education, leveraging digital platforms to reach broader audiences beyond the traditional classroom. By offering high-quality online courses such as “Programming Foundations,” Benilde continues to promote lifelong learning and strengthen its role as a leader in technology-enabled education.
