On July 18–19, 2024, Dr. Catherine Mojado, Associate Dean for the Analytics, Computing and IT (ACI) Cluster, and Mr. Jacob Catayoc, Program Chair for Information Systems and Program Coordinator for Cybersecurity, represented the School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) at the “AI and Web3 Beyond Borders” seminar held at The National Art Center, in Tokyo, Japan.

The two-day event brought together global thought leaders, innovators, and educators to discuss the latest developments, trends, and challenges in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain (Web3) technologies. The sessions covered emerging applications in finance, education, governance, and creative industries, emphasizing how these technologies are reshaping digital ecosystems and redefining the future of work and learning.

By participating in this international seminar, Benilde’s SMIT-ACI delegation strengthened the College’s global engagement and gained valuable insights into technological advancements that can inform curriculum updates and research directions within the cluster. The knowledge shared during the event will support Benilde’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI literacy, digital ethics, and blockchain innovation into its academic programs, ensuring that graduates remain equipped for leadership in a rapidly evolving digital world.
