De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) continues to expand its global footprint through an exploratory meeting with the Japan University of Economics (JUE) held on June 11, 2024. The session brought together leaders from both institutions to discuss potential collaborations that would enhance international learning experiences and strengthen academic exchange.
Representing Benilde were Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Lacson, School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) Dean Cora Reyes, Associate Deans Ricky Cruz and Cathy Mojado, School of New Media Arts (SNMA) Dean Sharon Arriola, Center for External Linkages (CEL) Director Sherlo Reyes, and Linkages Specialist Paula Roxas. They met with Jared Desselo and Sugata of the Japan University of Economics, who expressed enthusiasm for building a long-term partnership with Benilde.
The discussion centered on several exciting areas of collaboration, including short courses involving international study trips, student and faculty exchange programs, and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiatives. These programs aim to provide students and educators with deeper global exposure and multicultural learning experiences that reflect the evolving demands of higher education.
Both institutions expressed mutual commitment to pursuing these opportunities, agreeing to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will formally define the scope of their partnership and establish the groundwork for future projects. JUE will also be sharing detailed information materials on its short course programs, which are designed to promote cross-border learning and professional growth.
The meeting marks another step in Benilde’s mission to foster meaningful global connections—creating opportunities for its students and faculty to engage with diverse academic communities, gain international perspectives, and champion innovation through collaboration.
