De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) reaffirmed its leadership in sustainable and forward-thinking design education through the “Co-Designing Sustainability” talk held on June 3, 2024, at the DAC Theater. The half-day event gathered select students from the School of Environment and Design (SED) and the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) for an afternoon of rich insights, dialogue, and cross-cultural exchange.

The talk forms part of the design cooperation and exchange initiatives between Philippine and Taiwanese organizations, aimed at mutually elevating the role of design in addressing global sustainability challenges. The discussions focused on expanding collaborative efforts in circular products and services, design policy development, and design education, underscoring how creative industries can drive environmental and social transformation.

Representatives from the Design Center of the Philippines (under the Department of Trade and Industry) and the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) led the conversation, sharing best practices, research, and case studies that highlight the power of design thinking in advancing sustainability.

Beyond the presentations, the event also facilitated meaningful networking opportunities. A networking lunch allowed students and professionals to exchange ideas, while a thank-you dinner provided an avenue for deeper dialogue on potential partnerships between Benilde and the participating organizations.

Through initiatives like “Co-Designing Sustainability,” Benilde continues to position itself as a hub for international collaboration—where design transcends borders and disciplines to create lasting impact. The event reflects Benilde’s unwavering commitment to fostering a new generation of designers who see sustainability not just as a goal, but as a shared responsibility and a way of life.
