A lecture workshop that aims to further and enhance the knowledge of Black dance, movement, music, culture, history, heritage, technique, and people.

Moncell Durden is a dance educator, choreographer, ethnographer, and professor at USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. He specializes in Afro-kinetic memory that provides cultural and historical context in his pedagogical practices. He taught previously at Drexel University, Yale School of Drama, Wesleyan University, and Bennington College.
As a former member of Mop Top Crew and Alumni of Rennie Harris Puremovement, he is a highly sought after instructor and is a master in locking, house, hip-hop, and jazz.
Moncell Durden has published extensively and created the documentary, “Everything Remains Raw.” In 2010, he founded INTANGIBLE ROOTS to educate and preserve Afro-Diasporic social dance formations.
