On August 1 and 4, 2024, two student-developed games from the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde Game Design and Development program gained national media attention, showcasing the creativity and technical excellence of Benildean game developers. SPIN.PH featured ApoCalypso, an original skate-inspired action game created by Benilde students that blends fast-paced gameplay with futuristic and dystopian storytelling. Around the same period, Rappler featured The Guardians of Ikapati, a mythology-inspired game drawing from Filipino folklore, nature, and cultural symbolism—developed to highlight Philippine narratives through interactive storytelling and gameplay.

Beyond academic success, both games reflect the program’s commitment to combining artistry, technical mastery, and cultural identity—encouraging young creators to tell stories that are globally competitive yet distinctly Filipino. The recognition from major media outlets also affirmed Benilde’s growing presence as a leader in game education and development in the Philippines.
