From August 18 to 21, 2024, the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde conducted a benchmarking visit to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) and its affiliated teaching and research hotel, Hotel ICON, in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
The visit aimed to gain deeper insights into HKPU SHTM’s globally recognized curriculum structure, pedagogical innovations, and research-driven approach to hospitality and tourism education. It also focused on observing operational strategies, integrated learning models, and sustainability practices within a hotel-school environment.
This engagement supports SHRIM’s commitment to academic excellence (SDG 4), innovation in institutional operations (SDG 9), strengthened academic governance and collaboration (SDG 16), and international partnerships (SDG 17) that enhance the quality and global relevance of tourism, hospitality and luxury management education.
