6th South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC)

The South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC) is a collaborative network of colleges and universities in Southern Manila established in 1974 to advance educational quality, institutional cooperation, and social transformation. Through shared initiatives including joint use of academic resources, faculty exchange, and collaborative research programs, SMEC strengthens collective capacity and promotes inclusive access to education.

The 6th SMEC Conference, held on February 22–23, 2024, showcased a range of research studies evaluated by professors from participating member institutions, fostering peer review, knowledge sharing, and scholarly growth. The consortium continues to serve as a platform for innovation and partnership, encouraging collaboration among educators, researchers, and administrators toward sustainable educational development.

This initiative demonstrates Benilde’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and innovation (SDG 4 and SDG 9), institutional cooperation and governance (SDG 16), and strategic partnerships in higher education (SDG 17).
