“Love about Filipino Sign Language”

The “Love About Filipino Sign Language” project, led by Deaf Studies Internship (DESTUIN) students and volunteers of the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS), stands as a heartfelt tribute to the richness of Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and the vibrant Deaf culture it represents.

What began as an internship initiative blossomed into the creation of a meaningful publication that promotes awareness, appreciation, and advocacy for FSL. The book, titled Love About Filipino Sign Language, captures the passion of Deaf advocates and storytellers who aim to deepen understanding of FSL as more than just a language, it is a reflection of identity, community, and cultural pride.

Beyond its pages, the project serves as a guide and inspiration for FSL advocacy within SDEAS volunteer programs and community partnerships. It encourages readers and partners alike to recognize the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and linguistic diversity in shaping a more understanding and equitable society.

Through this initiative, the DESTUIN students and volunteers have sparked conversations and built connections that celebrate the power of communication without barriers. Their work continues to contribute to the growing movement for linguistic pride, cultural empowerment, and nationwide accessibility, reminding everyone that Filipino Sign Language is not just a means of expression, it is a language of love, identity, and belonging.
