The School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) partnered with the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help for an event held on September 17, 2023, at the shrine. The activity was attended by 23 SDEAS volunteers, alumni, associates, and visitors. De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde’s School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies the Special Ministry for the Deaf of Baclaran Church, in collaboration with SDEAS-CDEAF, is promoting “Deaf Awareness Week” from September 17 to 23, 2023. The goal is to raise awareness about Deaf identity and Filipino sign language and promote inclusivity, participation, and mission within the shrine. To start off the weeklong event a Holy Mass was celebrated at 9:30 AM. SDEAS volunteers served as lectors, demonstrating the shrine’s commitment to inclusivity and recognizing the unique gifts of the Deaf community. This initiative promotes acceptance and respect among Deaf communities, breaking down barriers and promoting a more inclusive society that respects the human dignity of each person as part of God’s family.
