The Deaf Festival cultural show event was held on November 25, 2023 (Saturday) at the Augusto Rosario-Gonzalez (ARG) Theater, Benilde Taft Campus, and was attended by 440 participants, including both Benildean and non-Benildean guests.
Under the artistic direction of Ms. Myra Medrana, a distinguished Deaf Director and Choreographer, the Cultural Show has become an annual highlight, serving as a platform to showcase the exceptional talent of SDEAS students and alumni. Open to both Benildean and Non-Benildean Deaf and Hearing audiences, the event is a celebration of the Deaf community’s prowess and a testament to their capabilities.
The 29th Deaf Festival Cultural Show, titled “MANGHOD,” promises a captivating display of performances by SDEAS Students (Silent Steps) and invited guests from various Deaf and Hearing organizations within our School and Community Partners. The narrative unfolds as a reunion story of three Deaf best friends, all De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde graduates, embarking on a transformative journey.
The showcase not only highlights diverse Deaf skills and talents but also fosters inclusive collaboration, featuring performances by our Hearing Community Guests. Beyond its artistic significance, the Cultural Show serves as a fundraising event, with proceeds dedicated to benefiting the Benilde SDEAS Deaf Scholars and other Deaf partners, furthering the mission of supporting education within the Deaf community.
