29 November 2023 I Benilde Industrial Design, in partnership with Prestige Quality Paper Products and Fedrigoni Asia Ltd., conducted the second annual run of the Packaging Design Awards through the Packaging Innovation Awards (PIA) initiative at the Peter D. Garrucho Jr. Innovations Institute.
The event is three-fold, with the first to be conducted through a gathering of the 13 volunteer ID student-teams at the PIA Bootcamp led talks facilitated by Ms Leah Marie Ayeng (General Manager, Prestige Quality Paper Products), and Mr. Kervin Valero (Marketing Manager-Asia Pacific, Fedrigoni Asia Ltd.).
The whole day event also had students exercise and conceptualize design ideas for review of the competition stakeholders, and will be choosing actual Micro Medium to Small Enterprises (MSME’s) through the recommendations of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The next phase will be for student teams to collaborate with their selected MSMEs and develop redesigned packaging with paper supply prototyping support from Prestige and Fedrigoni. Finalists will be chosen by the PIA team and will have their prototypes exhibited during the ProPak Philippines’ Paper Trade Exhibit at the World Trade Center on January-February 2023 which will be facilitated by Informa Markets, where the grand winner will also be voted upon and awarded.
