Siklab 2024: Beyond Boundaries – A Celebration of Design and Collaboration

The Metacon forum event for Siklab 2024, held on May 31st, proved to be a resounding success, pushing the boundaries of design and fostering a spirit of collaboration across disciplines.

Themed “Siklab 2024: Beyond Boundaries – The Next Wave of Design,” the event offered a unique platform for learning, exploration, and exchange of ideas.

What truly set Siklab 2024 apart was the first-ever Philippine Interior Design Celebration. This landmark collaboration saw six design schools – UP Design Core, UST Interior Design Innovators, Enderun AXIS, PWU – Society of Interior Design Students, and Mapúa Interior Design Coterie – come together to curate a vibrant program of seminars, workshops, and exhibits. This spirit of collaboration extended beyond interior design, with students from Architecture, Multimedia Arts, Film, and Photography from Benilde. Special thanks to Benilde HIFI, SPOT, and UAPSA-SAGA for playing vital roles in bringing the event to life.

Industry leaders such as Ar. Royal Pineda, IDr. Cyndi Beltran, Dr. Mary Ann Bulanadi, Dr. Raquel Florendo, Mr. Lambert Ongkingco, Mr. Rgee Wharlo Gallega, and Mr. Fred Telarma shared their expertise, offering valuable insights and inspiration for the next generation of designers. Their participation underlines the event’s commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice.

The success of Siklab 2024 would not have been possible without the invaluable support of sponsors and partners like Landlite Lighting Solutions, T1 Project Services, and Gorenje Appliances Philippines. Their contributions amplified the event’s ability to showcase the potential and impact of design.

A testament to the power of collaboration and passion, Siklab 2024 served as a launchpad for the “Next Wave of Design.” The event’s reach extended beyond the walls of the venue, with representatives from USC-INSIDE, UAPSA-USC, UNIVERSITY OF SAN AGUSTIN Iloilo, and USC joining the experience virtually.

Siklab 2024 leaves a lasting impression, not just for the innovative ideas presented, but for the collaborative spirit it fostered. This spirit serves as a beacon for the future of design, a future where boundaries are transcended, and disciplines converge to create a more enriching and inspiring world. It is important to acknowledge the unwavering support of the GRID Adviser, IDr. Candice Arboleda, whose guidance was instrumental to the success of the event. We also extend our gratitude to GRID President Alexander Vega for their leadership.
