Dancer and Choreographer Ms. Myra Medrana, an active figure in the Deaf performing circuit, was one of the Finalists for the CCP Wifibody PH 2024 – Choreographer Competition last August 10, 2024, held at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gomez, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Blackbox Theater. Her entry “ATE” is about two sisters: Hearing Sister and Deaf Sister – showing moments of love complicated by their struggle to connect. Though unable to hear the vibrations, coupled with the ability to memorize the timing of movements, the Deaf bring songs to life. The dance performance of “ATE” won the Audience Choice award.
