The Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative connects Deaf students from around the world through cost-effective, accessible online exchanges. Through shared projects, students develop global awareness, intercultural communication, and academic skills, while also strengthening digital literacy. COIL breaks down language and cultural barriers, promoting inclusive education and lifelong learning for everyone—anywhere, anytime. The Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies–Applied Deaf Studies Program, in collaboration with Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., conducted the COIL sessions on the topic “Sign Language Performance, Ecopoetics, and Deaf Identities” from February 16 to March 8, 2024.
