Benilde and Vatel RIAT Moscow Seal Partnership for Global Hospitality Education

On December 13, 2024, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) and the Russian International Academy for Tourism (RIAT), home of Vatel Moscow, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in a virtual ceremony that united participants from the Philippines and Russia in celebration of a new era of academic cooperation.

The signing ceremony opened with Mr. Paolo Sumera, who welcomed distinguished guests including Rector Evgeny Trofimov and Vice-Rector Vladimir Petukhov of RIAT, alongside Benilde officials led by Chancellor Benhur Ong. The MOU underscores both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing global hospitality and tourism education through student and faculty exchange programs, joint research, and academic collaborations. The first inbound exchange student from Moscow is expected to join Benilde in January 2025, marking the beginning of an enriching intercultural exchange between the two hospitality schools.

The partnership also signifies the formal establishment of the relationship between Vatel Moscow and Vatel Manila, uniting both under the globally recognized Vatel network of hospitality schools. This alliance opens opportunities for collaborative learning, cross-border internships, and joint academic development aimed at preparing students to thrive in the international hospitality industry.

During the ceremony, Dr. Marie Castro, Dean of Benilde’s School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM), expressed excitement about welcoming Moscow students to Manila and emphasized the value of fostering mutual understanding through education and cultural exchange. The event concluded with the ceremonial signing and a virtual group photo, symbolizing the spirit of partnership and unity across borders.

Through this collaboration, Benilde continues to strengthen its role as a leader in global hospitality education, cultivating professionals who are not only skilled and adaptable but also culturally aware and globally connected.
