17 June 2024 – A BS-HRIM Culinary Arts candidate under the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde has recently volunteered with Kawa Pilipinas Foundation Inc., a community kitchen dedicated to addressing hunger in the Philippines.

Kawa Pilipinas, which advocates for food security and social responsibility, has found its temporary home at the historic Miguel Febres Cordero (MFC) Building of Benilde. The initiative provides an opportunity for volunteers to prepare and serve nutritious meals to communities in need, fostering compassion and collaboration.
He shared that as a Benildean-Lasallian, engaging in volunteer activities allows him to live out the true meaning of service. Inspired by the teachings of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, he believes that education is not only about knowledge but also about compassion and social responsibility. His formation as a Benildean motivated him to volunteer and put his learning into meaningful action.
“When we serve others, we discover the true essence of learning. Every act of kindness brings us closer to the mission of Saint John Baptist de La Salle,” he said.
Volunteering embodies the Lasallian core values of faith, service, and communion in mission. The participation of Benilde ETEEAP candidates reflects the institution’s commitment to forming socially responsible professionals inspired by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, whose mission focused on education and the upliftment of the marginalized.
Through this partnership, Benilde continues to strengthen its advocacy for inclusion and service, inspiring its learners to extend their expertise beyond the classroom and into meaningful acts of community engagement.
