Advocacy and communications strategy design plan

De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde provides neutral, inclusive, and safe spaces where students, civil society groups, public-sector actors, and community partners can openly engage in conversations on social, legal, and political issues. Across multiple terms, the College has hosted dialogues, screenings, and advocacy forums that encourage respectful discussion and strengthen civic understanding among diverse stakeholders.

One significant example is the AdbokaSerye: 11,103 Film Screening and Talkback (February 23, 2024), where students and associates engaged directly with Martial Law survivors, filmmakers, and human rights organizations such as Dakila and Active Vista. The event created an open space for critical dialogue on historical truth, political accountability, and the continuing impacts of authoritarian rule on democratic institutions. This facilitated a meaningful exchange of perspectives on sensitive socio-political issues within a safe and neutral academic setting.

Similarly, the AdbokaSerye: Safe Spaces – Women’s Month Edition (March 21, 2024) convened legal experts, community engagement practitioners, and members of the Benildean community to discuss the Safe Spaces Act, institutional responsibilities, and gender-based protections. The moderated panel conversation and open forum encouraged participants to share experiences, ask questions, and reflect on policy implementation and campus safety.

Through these multi-stakeholder activities, Benilde demonstrates its commitment to serving as a neutral and secure venue for open, thoughtful, and respectful discussion of complex socio-political and legal issues. These initiatives affirm the College’s dedication to fostering participatory governance, human rights awareness, and democratic dialogue in alignment with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
