[2024-2025] CEAD Researcher Passes 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers

Emmanuel Misolas Jr., a Deaf researcher at the Benilde Center for Education Advancement of the Deaf (Benilde-CEAD), successfully passed the 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

Emmanuel’s commitment to teaching began early, when helping a classmate understand mathematics sparked his desire to support other learners. He earned his degree in Elementary Education in 2016 and later pursued advanced training to strengthen his foundation as an educator. While working full-time as an Academic Sign Research Assistant at Benilde-CEAD, he enrolled in the Deaf Teacher Certificate Program (TCP) — as an MLITEDCE scholar supported by The Nippon Foundation — to deepen his knowledge of learner-centered instruction and Filipino Sign Language (FSL) literacy.

Throughout the program, Emmanuel gained experience in adapting lessons for diverse learning styles and advocating for accessible classroom communication. Supported by FSL interpreters, Deaf students engaged actively with hearing faculty, fostering collaboration and strengthening inclusive practices within the learning environment.

Now a licensed Deaf teacher, Emmanuel hopes to inspire more Deaf professionals to pursue teaching careers and to encourage schools to hire more Deaf educators who can lead Deaf-centered classrooms.
