De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) continues to strengthen its international network through an exploratory meeting with Sunway University (Malaysia) held via Zoom on June 26, 2024. The session brought together academic leaders and international relations officers from both institutions to explore strategic opportunities for collaboration in teaching, learning, and research.
Representing Benilde were Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Lacson, School of New Media Arts (SNMA) Dean Sharon Arriola, School of Environment and Design (SED) Dean Harvey Vasquez, School of Arts, Culture, and Performance (SACP) OIC Dean Hershey, Center for External Linkages (CEL) Director Sherlo Reyes, and Linkages Specialist Paula Roxas. They met with Professor Mayco and Dr. Padma of Sunway University to discuss potential areas of cooperation between the two Lasallian institutions.
The meeting focused on several key initiatives, including Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Global Network Learning (GNL) projects, short course mobility programs, conference co-hosting and speakership, and student exchange opportunities. Among these, the short course mobility program was identified as the most immediate and feasible entry point for partnership, offering students from both universities the opportunity to engage in immersive and intercultural learning experiences.
Sunway University will be sharing its program and course specifications for alignment, along with its standard Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) template, to formalize the partnership. CEL also proposed the creation of an institutional-level MOU to include other aligned programs such as business management and hospitality, ensuring a broader and more sustainable collaboration framework.
This developing partnership with Sunway University highlights Benilde’s ongoing pursuit of global engagement and innovation in education. By connecting with esteemed academic institutions across the region, Benilde continues to empower its students and faculty to participate in a dynamic international learning community—one that celebrates creativity, inclusivity, and excellence across borders.
