In line with its advocacy for inclusion and equitable opportunities, De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) continues to forge partnerships that empower persons with disabilities. On July 12, 2024, Sherlo Reyes of the Center for External Linkages (CEL) and Gerrell Angeles of the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) met online with Grant Javier of Project Inclusion Network (PIN) to discuss the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.
The meeting centered on strengthening the ongoing collaboration between Benilde and Project Inclusion—an organization dedicated to creating sustainable employment pathways for persons with disabilities. Both parties explored key areas of partnership, including student internships, barista training programs for Deaf individuals, and joint efforts in organizing the 2025 Workability Asia Conference, a regional event focused on advancing inclusive employment across Asia.
Through this partnership, Benilde aims to extend its inclusion initiatives beyond the classroom, providing real-world experiences and professional opportunities for Deaf and differently-abled learners.
A follow-up meeting is scheduled in two weeks to finalize the details of the MOU signing and to begin preparations for the Workability Asia Conference collaboration.
This partnership reaffirms Benilde’s enduring commitment to inclusive education and workforce integration, working hand in hand with organizations like Project Inclusion to build a society where everyone—regardless of ability—has access to meaningful work and lifelong growth.
