[2023-2024] Benilde and Game Developers Association of the Philippines Forge 5-Year Partnership to Advance Game Education and Industry Collaboration

De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) is set to strengthen its footprint in the Philippine game development industry through a landmark partnership with the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP). On August 9, 2024, Benilde representatives—Norman Lee, Lambert Ongkiko, Sherlo Reyes, and Paula Roxas—met with James Lo, President of GDAP, to discuss the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will guide the two institutions’ collaboration for the next five years.

The proposed partnership will focus on a comprehensive framework covering student internships, micro-credentialing programs, joint project development, fund sourcing, and resource exchange, among other collaborative initiatives. The MOU aims to bridge academic training and industry practice, ensuring that Benilde students are equipped with the skills, certifications, and industry exposure necessary to thrive in the fast-evolving global game development landscape.

Beyond the MOU, both organizations also agreed to draft a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) specifically dedicated to the CGArts Certification, a recognized international credential for digital content creators. This will give Benildean students the opportunity to gain industry-relevant certification, further enhancing their professional credentials and employability.

To formally launch the partnership, Benilde and GDAP will hold a Ceremonial MOU and MOA Signing in the first week of September 2024.

This collaboration represents another milestone in Benilde’s ongoing commitment to industry-aligned education, innovation, and creative excellence—empowering students to lead in the dynamic and competitive world of game development and digital arts.
